About Random Number
Random Number returns a whole number between your minimum and maximum, inclusive. Every number in the range is equally likely: the generator uses your device's cryptographic random source with rejection sampling, which avoids the small bias that simpler methods introduce.
It's suitable for raffles, games, classroom picks and everyday decisions. Consecutive draws are independent, so the same number can come up twice in a row — that's what fair randomness looks like.
Ideas
- Raffle: set the range to your ticket numbers.
- Can't decide between options? Number them and draw.
How it works
Every pick uses a cryptographically secure random number generator — your browser's, which the operating system keeps seeded with physical noise from your device's hardware — so there are no patterns and no favourites.
Without JavaScript the button still works: our edge servers make the pick instead, using Cloudflare's secure random number generator, whose entropy famously includes LavaRand — a wall of lava lamps.
Questions
How do I pick several numbers with no repeats?
Set “How many” and tick “No repeats”. The numbers are drawn without replacement (like drawing raffle tickets), then shown in random order — tick “Sort” to order them.
Is every number equally likely?
Yes. Each number comes from a cryptographically secure random generator with rejection sampling, which removes the small bias that simpler methods introduce.
Can the same number come up twice in a row?
With “No repeats” off, yes — each draw is independent, and repeats are part of fair randomness. Tick “No repeats” to prevent them within a set.
