About Random Country
Random Country picks from all 193 member states of the United Nations plus the two observer states, Vatican City and Palestine — 195 in total. Each pick shows the flag, capital, continent, main languages, currency and a notable fact.
Use it for geography quizzes, travel daydreams, trivia nights, or to learn about a place you know nothing about. Filter by continent to focus on one part of the world.
Ideas
- Geography quiz: hide the result, read the fact, and guess the country.
- Cook a dish from each country you land on — see Random Food.
How it works
The list holds 44 countries. Every pick uses a cryptographically secure random number generator — your browser's, which the operating system keeps seeded with physical noise from your device's hardware — so there are no patterns and no favourites.
It works like a shuffled deck: you won't see the same country twice until you've seen them all in this visit. To keep pages tiny, the list is split into small, randomly mixed batches that load only as you need them.
Without JavaScript the button still works: our edge servers make the pick instead, using Cloudflare's secure random number generator, whose entropy famously includes LavaRand — a wall of lava lamps.
